My Autobiopolitical Statement
I wrote this essay for my Honors American Government class, so I thought I would share it with you.
My personal, political beliefs all stem from the single belief that the duty of the government is to protect the rights of the individual. Under no circumstances can anyone revoke our rights, whether or not we willingly give them up. Neither the government, nor any business or corporation, nor any other individual can withhold our rights. Defining our rights is where the issues get tricky.
Minimal Mac recently rounded the corner of it’s first year in existence. I think I can safely say that everything about it has exceeded my expectations, mostly because I really had none at the start…
Congratulations, Patrick, on your first year curating an excellent blog. With you, Merlin Mann and others on one side, and my OmniFocus system on the other, I always have somewhere to turn when I need to figure out who I need to be today, what I should be doing, and if I could be doing anything Better.
Three things about Marco Arment
(and a couple things about you, me, and a metaphorical horse)
I’ve got to be one of the most voracious users of Marco Arment’s Instapaper site/bookmarklet/iPhone app/world-changer. Given that I’m pals with Marco and follow what he has to say in a few different places, I’m not at all surprised to learn his official reasoning for building Instapaper.
But, I do want to share it with you here, because it’s a pitch-perfect summary of a frustration I share — as well as a polemical, long-overdue shot over the bow of the “S.S. Web Bullshit.”
Merlin Mann, one smart guy. Also, Instapaper Rocks!
